Blocking transactions when inventory journals exist

In N24 Core Extension Setup, the option to enable blocking the posting of any transaction when there are any unposted lines in the Inventory Journal or Warehouse Physical Inventory Journal related by Location Code, Item No., and Variant No. has been added.

Calculating inventory as of a specific date

The ability to calculate inventory levels as of a specific date has been added. After clicking the action, a request page opens where the Inventory Date field must be filled in.

Physical Inventory Journals

Functionality available in Physical Inventory Journals through the Calculate Inventory report.

Physical Inventory Orders

Functionality available in Physical Inventory Orders through the Calc. Phys. Invt. Order Lines report. Similarly to the functionality in Physical Inventory Journals, after running the report, a request page opens with an Inventory Date field that allows calculating inventory levels as of a specific date.

Examples and Scenarios

Scenario: Blocking transactions during physical inventory

Need: A company is conducting a physical inventory at location WAREHOUSE-01. During the count, no one should be able to post receipts or shipments for items included in the inventory — otherwise, stock levels will diverge.

Configuration:

  1. Open N24 Core Extension Setup.
  2. Enable the Block transactions when inventory orders exist option.

How it works:

  1. A warehouse worker creates a physical inventory order for location WAREHOUSE-01, item PROD-100.
  2. Another employee tries to post a shipment of item PROD-100 from location WAREHOUSE-01.
  3. The system blocks the operation with a message that an unposted inventory order exists for this item and location.

Result: Stock levels don't change during the physical inventory. After posting the inventory results, the block is automatically removed and normal operations can continue.

Scenario: Inventory calculation as of a specific date (cut-off)

Need: A company does its physical inventory at month-end (April 30), but the actual counting takes place on May 2. The system must calculate stock levels as of April 30, ignoring transactions from May 1-2.

Steps:

  1. Open Physical Inventory Journal.
  2. Run the Calculate Inventory report.
  3. In the Inventory Date field, enter 30.04.2026.
  4. The system calculates stock levels as of the end of April 30.

Result: The inventory journal lines contain calculated quantities as of April 30. The warehouse worker compares them with the actual count done on May 2 and enters the differences.

Tip

The same function is available in Physical Inventory Orders — use the Calc. Phys. Invt. Order Lines report with the same date field.
