Examples and Scenarios

Scenario: Correct cost posting from consumed component posting group

Need: A manufacturing company consumes components (posting group MATERIALS) to produce finished goods (posting group FINISHED GOODS). By default, WIP posts consumption cost using the finished goods group. The company wants consumption costs posted using the component's group.

Configuration:

  1. Open N24 Core Extension Setup.
  2. Enable the option to fetch the posting group from consumed inventory (instead of the finished product).

Result: When posting a production journal, the consumption cost of component STEEL-10 (group MATERIALS) is posted to the account from the MATERIALS group, not to the FINISHED GOODS group account. This provides correct cost structure on G/L accounts and facilitates production cost analysis.
