Production Entries

Production Entries are used for comprehensive registration and monitoring of the production process in Business Central. The system enables detailed tracking of statuses, quantities, batch information, operation types, and execution times for each entry.

The Production Entries page contains the following key elements:

Main Fields

  • Status - determines the current processing state of the entry:
    • Created - initial status of a new entry
    • Ready to Process - entry approved, waiting for import and posting
    • Imported - entry successfully transferred to production journal
    • Posted - entry fully processed and posted in the system
    • Error - entry with an error during import or posting (details available in the Error Text field)
    • Skipped - entry marked to be excluded from the import and posting process
  • Lot No. - unique identifier of the product batch. When this field is filled, the system automatically generates corresponding tracking lines in the Production Journal.
  • Line Type - classifies the type of operation being registered:
    • Output - registration of product output with batch/serial information and execution times
    • Downtime - registration of downtime duration and cause
    • Scrap - registration of quantity and cause of production scrap
    • Setup - registration of time spent on machine/station setup

Time Information

  • Start Time / End Time - precise definition of operation timeframes. The system uses this data to automatically calculate the unit time of operations for the Production Journal.

Additional Information

  • User Name - identifier of the ShopFloor system operator who created the entry.

The following functions are available in the action bar:

From the action bar and line context menu (3-dot icon), the following related data viewing options are available:

  • Open Journal - opens the production journal with template and instance set in ShopFloor Setup
  • Open Error Journal - opens the production error journal with template and instance set in ShopFloor Setup
  • Open Production Order Card - opens the production order card
  • Open Item Ledger Entries - opens related, posted item ledger entries
  • Open Capacity Ledger Entries - opens related, posted capacity ledger entries

Entry Processing

  • Import Entries to Output Journal - allows importing all entries with Ready to Process status to the Production Journal using the template and instance defined in ShopFloor Setup
  • Post Output Journal - allows posting the Production Journal defined in ShopFloor Setup. Unlike standard posting, this is performed line by line, ensuring that already processed lines remain posted in case of an error

Administration

Required permission set: N24SF Admin or N24SF Entries Admin.

For manual intervention in entry processing, the following actions have been added:

  • Delete Related Journal Entries for Selected - allows removing from the appropriate Item Journal lines related to selected Production Entries
  • Change Status for Selected Entries - allows changing the Status of entries to another
